Part of the Lower Colorado Trail system.
After hiking 4.05 miles along the Lower Colorado Trail to Gudy’s Rest you can turn left to head down Hoffheins and loop back around from Dry Fork, back to the Colorado Trail. Hoffheins allows the lower Colorado Trail to be accessed as a loop versus the popular out-and-back. Gudy’s Rest (and the Hofheins Trail) can be accessed from the Junction Creek Trailhead or Dry Fork Parking area.

Dry Fork Trailhead
From downtown Durango, head West on Hwy 160, then turn right on Lightner Creek Road (CR 207). At the T in road, stay straight onto the State Widlife area (CR 208). Take one more right at the split toward Silver Mountain Ranch and a final left at the split away from Silver Mountain Ranch. This parking area is Dry Fork. Hofheins makes up part of the Dry Fork/Hofheins/CT Loop.
