Cutthroat is a 5.5 mile trail above the East Fork of Hermosa Creek beginning at the intersection of Relay Creek and Cascade Divide Road.
This scenic 9-mile network of trails sits between Elbert Creek and Highway 550, connecting Haviland Lake Park and Chris Park. This network is used year-round by equestrians, hikers, bikers, skiers and snowshoers.
Junction Creek Road is a great area for touring skiing and fat biking (once compacted). Start just past the lower gate.
Purgatory Nordic Center is groomed for cross country skiing and you must purchase a pass to ski. Dogs are not allowed.
Great hiking just north of Durango in between Hermosa and Purgatory.
The High Point on the Colorado Trail is 10 miles from the Colorado Trail trailhead, it doesn’t not have a sign but is a local’s favorite hang out.
Bolam Pass Road climbs 4 miles until the road levels out and connects to the Colorado Trail (at high country).
Vallecito Reservoir has beautiful groomed nordic skiing and snowshoeing trails in winter months.
La Plata Canyon trail is a long sustained climb up the La Plata Canyon Road to the Colorado Trail at Kennebec Pass.
