Part of the Animas Mountain Trail System.
Sick Bird is a difficult trail that parallels the eastern edge of the main Animas Mountain Trail loop. Sick Bird is often used as a directional trail, starting from the upper intersection and ending near the southern intersection back with Animas Mountain Trail.
A popular and iconic trail in Durango, Animas Mountain yields spectacular views of the Hermosa (to the south) and Animas (to the north) Valleys.
Please note: The upper loop of Animas Mountain is closed for seasonal wildlife closures from December 1 to April 15.

Heading North on Main Street, go west (left) on 32nd Street and then a right on West 4th Ave, where you will see the parking lot/trailhead for Animas Mountain a short ways up the road.
