With Mesa Verde National Park as its shadow, the area to the west of Durango includes the communities of Mancos, Dolores, and Cortez.

Here you’ll find desert-like landscapes with numerous hiking and biking trails winding their way through it. 

Explore Sand Canyon, with its historic ruins right off the trail, or take in the slickrock riding at Phil’s World and feel like you’ve cruised over to Moab.
