Big Canyon Trail is a moderate 1.6-mile trail that is open to all non-motorized use. Big Canyon spurs from Cowboy Trail to the road near the Exxon Gas Station. The trail system next to the Horse Gulch/Telegraph network (and connecting to it) is called the Grandview Ridge Trails and includes several very fun local trails. The trails are designed as ‘swoopy,’ intermediate style multi-use and multi-direction trails for mountain biking, hiking, trail running.

Parking at Carbon Junction
From 9th Street and Main Avenue in Durango, head west on 9th Street toward Camino Del Rio. Take a left onto Camino Del Rio (Highway 550) then veer left onto Highway 160 East. Turn left onto Dominguez Drive toward the Exxon, then take a right onto Carbon Junction. Continue on Carbon Junction (Frontage Road) as it turns to dirt and heads slightly uphill. Here, there is a parking area for Grandview Ridge Trails.
