Westview Loop can be accessed where Log Chutes 3 crossed Junction Creek Road. This “lollipop-style” loop is rated as difficult, and gains 660 feet in 3 miles. Log Chutes is a multi-use trail located just above the Colorado Trail Trailhead at Junction Creek in Durango. Log Chutes trails cross Junction Creek road as we move from Log Chutes 1 to the Westview loop on the road so watch for cars.

dIRECTIONS TO TRAILHEAD
Parking at Log Chutes/Junction Creek Upper Trailhead
From 9th Street and Main Avenue in Durango, head west on 9th Street toward Camino Del Rio. Turn right onto Camino Del Rio (Highway 550/ N. Main Avenue) Continue on North Main Avenue/Camino Del Rio; take a left onto West. 25th Street. West 25th Street turns slightly right and becomes Junction Creek Road. At a three-way intersection, stay left on Junction Creek Road, and continue right, past the dirt parking area for the Lower Colorado Trail. The road becomes dirt here. After 1 mile on this road you will see a second dirt parking area for Log Chutes.

Tree down approximately .25 mile from finish of Westview Loop. The remaining trail is in excellent condition.
