The Log Chutes trailhead is located four miles past the Junction Creek Trailhead of the Colorado Trail. From Main Avenue (heading north) in Durango, take a left at 25th Street. The street turns into Junction Creek Road; continue west where you will see a sign for the Colorado Trail trailhead. Continue up the road four miles. The Log Chutes trailhead will be on your right.
Help protect natural areas and habitats by staying on established trails. Creating "social trails", cutting switchbacks, or ignoring trail closures leads to greater erosion and impacts on ecosystems.
Uphill traffic always has the right of way. Downhill traffic must be in control, especially around blind corners, to avoid coming in contact with uphill traffic.
Log Chutes and Westview Loop riding great. Two trees down; one on upper Log Chutes and another on Westview. Lupine are starting to go off and tree leaves are popping. Westview offering some amazing views of La Plata mountains with a dusting of snow.
