The Saul’s Creek trail system is in the San Juan National Forest about 3 miles east of Bayfield, CO, made up of gas roads and double track. You may encounter motorcycles or horses. Sauls Creek Trail is a 1.2-mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Bayfield, Colorado that offers the chance to see wildlife and is good for all skill levels. This trail connects into the Ridge Trail, also part of the Saul’s Creek trail system. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from March until October.
From 9th Street and Main Avenue in Durango, head west on 9th Street toward Camino Del Rio. Turn left onto Camino Del Rio/ Hwy 550. Keep left to continue on Highway 550 South. Continue onto US-160 East, and keep left to stay on US-160 East. Turn right onto CR 526. Turn left onto CR 527. A parking area will be on your right.

Excellent flowing trails. Even better gravel roads. At the trailhead you don’t have to peddle the steep uphill. There is a much easier trail just to the right. Much like Boggy Draw except 30 minutes from Durango rather than one hour.
