Part of the Animas Mountain Trail System.
Birket Trail is a switchbacking, intermediate trail leading up from Birket Drive to meet Animas Mountain Trail. This trail also allows for connections into Dalla Mountain Park.
A popular and iconic system in Durango, Animas Mountain yields spectacular views of the Hermosa (to the south) and Animas (to the north) Valleys.
Please note: The upper loop of Animas Mountain is closed for seasonal wildlife closures from December 1 to April 15.

Parking at Birket Drive
From Durango, head north on Main Street to 25th street. Head west on 25th which turns into Junction Street. In .6 mile, turn right onto Birket. Park on the street and enter the trail which leads into the Animas Mountain or Dalla Mountain Park systems.
